Trust is developed over time between people (for example a patient and their health practitioner) and depends on aspects beyond certification. However, a robust on-going education, membership of the primary professional body for traditional acupuncturists, environmental health and police approval can lay the foundations for a trusting relationship.
BSc (Hons) Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.
The degree course was 3600 hours of study and included:
- the theory of Chinese medicine
- practice of acupuncture and related treatment modalities including fire cupping, moxabustion and tuina (massage)
- conventional medical sciences, including when to refer
I also hold an advanced diploma in body massage, which can be beneficially combined with acupuncture.
Continuing Professional Development
I continue my professional education through regular attendance of post-graduate professional training, clinical supervision, research and reflection.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council I adhere to rigorous guidelines on safety, ethics and professional conduct.
I hold full medical and public liability insurance, underwritten by Sun Alliance.
Disclosure and Barring Service
I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate.
Southampton EH department has licensed my practice.
I regularly update my emergency first aid training.
I have the British Sign Language qualifications (BSL Stage 2).
